Despite growing awareness and innovation, the protein transition is moving too slowly. The SEVEN Forum brings together researchers, policymakers, businesses, and societal organizations to identify systemic barriers and explore how coordinated interventions across the entire food system, from production to consumption, can work together to accelerate the transition.
Speakers from SEVEN include André Nollkaemper, Margaretha Wewerinke-Singh and Jan-Willem Bolderdijk.
The Forum will feature interactive roundtables on 8 themes:
- True Pricing of Meat: What conditions are needed to make true pricing socially acceptable and effective in cutting emissions?
- Introducing New Protein Crops: What systemic changes enable the successful integration of new protein crops into the food chain?
- Protein Transition in Healthcare Institutions: How can healthcare institutions advance the transition through food policy, procurement, and waste reduction?
- Resistance and Polarisation: What drives resistance to the protein transition, and how can dialogue and acceptance be strengthened?
- Avoiding Negative Global South Impacts: How can we prevent protein transition policies in the Netherlands from harming producers in the Global South?
- Healthy Diets and Climate Mitigation: How can healthier diets and climate goals reinforce each other through systemic change?
- Embedding Animal Welfare: How can animal welfare become a core principle of sustainable food systems?
- Consumers Choices for Plant-Based Products: What strategies can boost acceptance and daily adoption of plant-based foods?
