Pallas has graduated in social science, information management, business administration and art academy. She worked in the early nineties on implementing new business processes that changed due to automation. From 1995 to 2005, she focused on organisational change, innovation and product development as a consultant and interim manager. Pallas has been active in the energy branch since 2001 and has worked within Alliander since 2004. Among others, she is chair of the supervisory board of OnePlanet Research and a member of the advisory council of the National Climate Platform.
Isabel Cavelier Adarve is a writer, speaker, language and poetry wanderer, lawyer, former diplomat, advocate for planetary transition & creator of eco-social initiatives for cultural transformation. She co-founded Mundo Común in 2023 as an initiative dedicated to seeding and nurturing a culture of care, rooted in interdependence, in response to the contemporary planetary challenges. Mundo Común is a speculative practice of the future in the present, and a collective design lab for a new relationality between the human and the more than human worlds.
Gerrit Hiemstra is one of the Netherlands’ best-known meteorologists. He worked as a weather presenter for the NOS Journaal for 25 years. He is also an entrepreneur, co-owner of Weather Impact, and co-owner of a company dedicated to building energy-efficient, bio-based homes with a low environmental footprint. He actively participates in public discussions and debates on climate change and strives to translate scientific knowledge into practical applications. For his contributions to the public debate on climate change, he received the Machiavelli Prize and an honorary doctorate from the University of Groningen.
Anniek Mauser is a sustainability professional focused on transformation and behavior change. After completing her PhD on the ‘black box’ of business greening, she spent over 20 years in various international sustainability roles at Unilever. She is currently Head of Sustainability at health insurer Coöperatie VGZ, working to green the healthcare sector and reduce socioeconomic health inequalities, with a strong emphasis on the crucial role of people in the sustainability transition.
Marjan is the director and founder of the Urgenda Foundation. She studied business administration, philosophy, and law, and has worked at Novem (now RVO), Greenpeace, and, for 10 years, at various universities. In 2015, she made global headlines when she and Urgenda won the climate case against the Dutch government, and again in 2019 before the Supreme Court. For this, Urgenda was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Brussels, and Marjan won the Goldman Environmental Prize, also known as the Green Nobel Prize. She recently wrote the book Landinzicht about what a sustainable Dutch agricultural and food system might look like.
Hugh is a consultant Intensivist and Professor of Intensive Care Medicine at University College London. He’s published >900 papers, holds 2 patents, and has 14 (inter)national awards. He’s consulted in Artificial Intelligence and drug development. He co-chairs the 57-country Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change & the UK Health Alliance on Climate Change, and founded non-profit Real Zero to leverage the global health economy to decarbonize society more generally.
Diederik has studied physics before working as a Greenpeace activist and campaigner on energy and climate. He entered politics in 2003, became the leader of the Dutch Labour Party in 2012, and became chief of staff to Executive Vice President Timmermans in the European Commission in 2019. He was instrumental in the design and implementation of the European Green Deal, as well as other hallmark European policies.
Gerard obtained his PhD in experimental physics from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston. In 1989, he began as a senior researcher at the National Institute for Subatomic Research (Nikhef) in Amsterdam. In 2000, he was appointed as a (part-time) professor of experimental physics at the University of Groningen. From 2014 to 2023, Gerard served as Director General of the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI).
Fatemah Sultan is a climate policy practitioner and advocate focused on international governance, legal frameworks, and multi-faceted partnerships, with a focus on Global South contexts, particularly Pakistan. She serves as Director of Partnerships & Strategic Engagement at the Future Generations Tribunal, advancing evidence-based approaches to climate accountability. Her work centres on bridging civic led, bottom-up, community-based knowledge, contributing to more equitable, systems-level responses to the climate crisis for those who are most marginalised.
Josja van der Veer is Director of the Urban Planning and Sustainability Department at the City of Amsterdam, an area that serves a population of over 2 million. With a background in urban geography, Josja has long-term experience as an area developer, working with international and national architects. While working in several large cities, she operated on both sides of the playing field, for government as well as for commercial real estate.
Ankie van Wersch is CEO of Future Up, platform sustainable economy. Since joining the organisation, she has sharpened Future Up’s strategic direction. Future Up champions a business landscape where profit and positive impact reinforce each other, helping companies grow sustainably and stay competitive in a changing economy. She is also the founder of the Tika Foundation, which is working towards a future beyond aid in Nepal through an innovative school system.
